Children's centre

Centre for Recreation, Education, Stimulation and Therapeutic Activities

Established in 1987, the Centre provides qualified supervision and loving care five days a week for older children and adults with Cerebral Palsy who are intellectually challenged.

Members of the group enjoy social interaction and participation in activities suited to their differing levels of ability. Among these are bi-weekly visits from the volunteer PAWS for People Group and regular sessions with Talking Drums. The centre also provides specialised communication devices.

Having a safe and stimulating environment in which to leave their children for a few hours offers families relief from the pressure of caring for a disabled family member around the clock and allows parents to go out to work.

No child is excluded purely for financial reasons. Parents who cannot contribute financially help with the running of the unit, thus helping us to curtail expenses.

Our Centre (and other projects) draws children from across the greater Durban area. We provide transport on a designated route for some of our children. Public transport cannot be used as it is unsuitable for the severely disabled child.
